TSMC, GlobalFoundries Ink $2 Billion Silicon Interposer Supply Deal

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TPE:2330) has entered into a $2 billion, five-year manufacturing agreement with US-based semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries, according to a Thursday press release.

Under the deal, GlobalFoundries will supply US-produced silicon interposers for TSMC's CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate) advanced packaging ecosystem. GlobalFoundries will provide manufacturing services to TSMC and add fabrication capacity at its Malta, New York, facility.

Volume production at the Malta site is expected to begin ramping in the first half of 2028.
