Unisem (M) (KLSE:UNISEM) plans to invest around 396 million ringgit for its proposed second phase of expansion of the Gopeng Plant in Malaysia, according to a Friday filing to the Malaysian bourse.
The expansion will entail the construction of a new production facility with infrastructure and utilities at an estimated cost of 196 million ringgit.
Half of the new production facility will be leased to the company's wholly-owned subsidiary Unisem Advanced Technologies to expand its wafer bumping operations. The associated facilitation for Unisem Advanced is estimated at around 200 million ringgit.
The proposed construction is aimed at expanding the group's manufacturing capacity for wafer bumping and post-bump services.
