Carlyle (CG) is no longer actively pursuing a deal to acquire the international assets of Russian oil producer Lukoil, Reuters reported Friday, citing a Carlyle spokesperson.
According to the report, Carlyle agreed in January to acquire Lukoil's international assets, excluding those in Kazakhstan, and explored partnering with Abu Dhabi-based funds Mubadala, XRG and IHC, along with the US Development Finance Corporation.
The $22 billion portfolio was put up for sale following US sanctions on Russia, attracting interest from Exxon Mobil (XOM) and at least a dozen other potential buyers, Reuters added.
Carlyle did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
