SoftBank Group (TYO:9984) Chief Executive Masayoshi Son is in talks with Gulf investors to raise $100 billion to expand its artificial intelligence investments, London's Financial Times reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Son has held discussions with several senior figures, including in the United Arab Emirates, and plans to set up a fund to buy companies and then use AI and other advanced technology to improve their operations, the report said.

The group is betting big on AI, including a planned $65 billion investment in OpenAI.

SoftBank and OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
