Japan's August Current Account Surplus Widens in August

Japan booked a current account surplus of 4.062 trillion yen in August, up from 2.989 trillion yen the previous month, the Ministry of Finance said in a Thursday release.
The latest figure also topped the 3.628 trillion yen surplus in August 2025 and exceeded the 3.194 trillion yen consensus forecast tracked by Investing.com.
The positive performance came despite a slowdown in export growth to 16.9% in August from 24.1% in July and an acceleration in import growth to 26.7% from 25.9%.
