Chrysler is recalling certain vehicles over concerns that water might be able to enter the electric power steering wiring harness, possibly disabling power steering assist.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.

The recall covers more than 265,000 vehicles including certain Ram ProMaster cargo vans manufactured between 2022 and 2026, as well as Ram 3500 electric vehicles manufactured between 2024 and 2026.

Dealers will inspect and replace the wiring harness and electronic power steering gear, as necessary and free of charge, the NHTSA said.
