Illumina Launches New Genomic AI Model for Rare Disease Research

Illumina (ILMN) said Thursday it launched new genomic AI model SpliceAI2 to support rare disease research projects.

The new model allows researchers to identify disease-relevant splice variants, the company said.

When applied to a rare disease research dataset, SpliceAI2 identified 17% more disease-relevant variants compared with other splicing models, Illumina said.

SpliceAI2 may be accessed through the BioInsight applications, the company said.

Illumina shares were down 3.9% in Thursday trading.
