Malaysian Blue-Chip Index Ends Week in Red Bucking Regional Gains

Malaysian shares closed slightly lower to end in the red on Friday, bucking an upbeat performance of its regional peers.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, shed 7.03 points to end 0.4% lower at 1,708.10.

In corporate news, shares of Orgabio (KLSE:ORGABIO) slid about 2% on close after its unit Orgabio Manufacturing agreed to acquire a piece of freehold land measuring 5,263 square meters in Selangor, Malaysia, from Chung Lian Fatt for 11.3 million ringgit.

AmFirst Real Estate Investment Trust (KLSE:AMFIRST) is seeking unitholders' approval for the proposed disposal of Menara AmBank to AmBank (M) for 331 million ringgit.

PLYTEC (KLSE:PLYTEC) unit PLYTEC Formwork System Industries has agreed to acquire a land parcel in Selangor, Malaysia, for 6.2 million ringgit in cash.
