Public Service Enterprise Group's (PEG) PSE&G unit said Wednesday that it has launched its GridSmart Battery Program, which is intended to help offset the costs of customers installing a home battery system.

The company said the program will offer a $5,000 incentive toward home battery systems, as well as up to $25,000 in interest-free, on-bill financing for remaining installation costs.

The company said it will use the participating batteries to help manage electricity demand during peak periods and provide backup power during outages.
