Hims & Hers Health (HIMS) was placed on notice by Visa for excessive customer complaints in its weight-loss subscription business, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing internal documents.

The company was enrolled in Visa's Acquirer Monitoring Program after a surge in credit card disputes in July, with each dispute carrying an $8 surcharge that will result in a bill of nearly $75,000 in September, the report said, citing the documents.

Hims was notified of its placement by payment processor Stripe earlier this month and must bring its dispute rate below 1.5% of transactions for three consecutive months to exit the program, according to the documents, Bloomberg reported.

A Hims spokesperson said the company has seen "a relatively small number of disputed charges" and has taken steps to address it, adding that its checkout process is clear about membership and medication costs, the report said.

Hims & Hers Health did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
