Tesla (TSLA) is recalling more than 5.7 million vehicles in China over two separate safety issues involving emergency door handles and driver-attention monitoring, the State Administration for Market Regulation said Friday.
The recalls cover nearly 3 million domestically produced and imported Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X vehicles whose emergency mechanical door handles may be difficult to identify after a crash if the low-voltage system fails, it said. Tesla will add warning labels and update window-control software, it added.
Separately, Tesla will recall 2.7 million domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles because their driver-monitoring system may not provide adequate warnings when assisted-driving features are active, it said. Tesla will add cabin-camera monitoring through an OTA software update, it added.
