Insteel Industries plans to close a facility in Ohio, cutting up to 65 positions in the process.

The company said Friday it expects to stop operations at its Upper Sandusky, Ohio plant by the end of October and move its manufacturing to its remaining welded wire reinforcement production facilities.

The layoffs would represent about 6.5% of the company's overall workforce, given it had 1,007 employees as of last September, according to its latest annual filing.

The company expects to incur restructuring charges of about $4.6 million related to the closure.

The move aims to align the company's manufacturing footprint with customer demand, boost efficiency and cut costs, Chief Executive H.O. Woltz III said.

"We do not expect this action to affect the Company's revenue," Woltz said.
