Internet technology company TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, will pay $400 million to settle U.S. litigation over compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
The settlement includes an immediate $300 million payment and an additional $100 million after a prior decree is vacated, according to a Friday news release by the U.S. Department of Justice.
This settlement ranks among the largest ever secured in a COPPA case.
