Japanese Shares Rise as US Bond-Buying Plan Eases Market Pressure

Japanese equities rebounded on Thursday following the US Treasury's plan for a long-term debt repurchase program aimed at lowering borrowing costs.

The Nikkei 225 advanced 406.4 points, or 0.6%, to open at 65,732.79.

On the geopolitical front, President Donald Trump declared that the US would launch unprecedented economic action against Iran, citing Tehran's failure to seize what he described as an opportunity to negotiate an agreement.

Elsewhere, according to the Federal Reserve's latest meeting minutes, multiple policymakers advocated for a rate hike last month.
