Rakuten Group (TYO:4755) will work with German AI defense firm Helsing to introduce autonomous attack drones to Japan's Self-Defense Forces, Nikkei Asia reported on Monday.

Rakuten will serve as Helsing's local liaison, helping pitch proposals and coordinate ground tests with the military, the news daily said.

The collaboration may also extend to joint production in Japan and broader product promotion to secure additional contracts, the publication said.

Rakuten and Helsing did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
