Sakata Seed (TYO:1377) said that the final investigation into unauthorized access to its servers and its US subsidiary, Sakata America Holding, determined that personal information from about 56,700 records may have been accessed or leaked, according to a Tokyo Stock Exchange filing on Thursday.

The seed producer said that unauthorized access to its servers was gained from a public remote-access server, with administrator privileges possibly obtained, while limited impact was observed on the unit's systems.

The company has strengthened network management systems and put in place strict administrator privileges along with 24-hour monitoring and is reviewing internal regulations and providing security training to all employees.
