Harrow (HROW) said Thursday that IHEEZO reduced patient-reported discomfort by about 58% compared with proparacaine in a prospective study of patients undergoing same-day bilateral intravitreal injections.
The randomized study evaluated 100 eyes from 50 adults, with one eye receiving IHEEZO and the other receiving proparacaine, it said.
IHEEZO produced statistically significant reductions in discomfort at all four measured time points through 24 hours after injection, with the largest differences recorded two minutes and one hour after injection, it added.
The company said the findings could support broader use of IHEEZO among retina specialists, particularly for patients who undergo repeated intravitreal injections over extended periods.
