Hong Kong Stocks Open Lower as Middle East Risks Weigh

Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Wednesday as renewed Middle East tensions kept inflation concerns elevated.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.4%, or 108.62 points, to open at 25,346.90, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.5%, or 46.38 points, to open at 8,408.50.
Wall Street ended lower overnight as rising Treasury yields pressured technology shares.
Oil prices held near three-week highs after Iran said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed and the U.S. ruled out extending the ceasefire.
Investors are now awaiting the Federal Reserve's latest meeting minutes for clues on the interest-rate outlook.
