Stellantis (STLA) is considering the closure and sale of its Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant, Canadian autoworkers union Unifor said Friday.
Unifor said Stellantis notified the union on Aug. 12 that it intends to discuss a potential sale of the plant with another firm.
The union said it has not received formal notice of a closure but plans to engage with Stellantis and government officials to discuss the matter and protect jobs and workers' incomes.
"This potential closure highlights the dangerous repercussions of the ongoing auto tariffs imposed by the Trump administration," Unifor said in a statement.
Stellantis did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
