Canadian officials are considering a proposal in which Canada would accept US auto tariffs in exchange for a lowering on tariffs for vehicles compliant with the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, The Globe and Mail reported Wednesday, citing three sources on both sides of the border.

The proposal would also leave an exemption unchanged for the value of American content in cars exported from Canada, the report said.
