President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's lead over challenger Flavio Bolsonaro narrowed to 43%-40% in a runoff scenario, according to a Quaest poll for TV Globo published Friday, down from a 5-point lead earlier this month and 8 points in July, multiple outlets reported.
Bolsonaro has trailed in polls since May revelations that he sought money from a figure at the center of a bank fraud investigation for a film about his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, according to the reports.
Quaest interviewed 2,004 people August 10-13, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points, the reports said.
