Qantas Bull Watching for Detail on Plans for A380s

Dow Jones

0445 GMT - Qantas's bull at Macquarie will watch the Australian carrier's annual results for any information on plans for its ageing A380 craft. With elevated fuel prices and interest rates putting pressure on fiscal 2026 earnings, one of the investment bank's analysts tells clients that there have been signs from the airline that A380 workloads may shrink given materially higher operating costs. The analyst writes in a note that details could emerge at this month's earnings announcement. With fleet renewal already set to continue through fiscal 2028, craft retirement is seen at Macquarie as one of the levers Qantas could pull. Macquarie has an unchanged outperform rating on the stock and lowers its target price by 1.8% to 10.80 Australian dollars. Shares are down 1.4% at A$10.42.
