Shares of Nature's Sunshine Products dropped after the company cut its outlook, citing softness in the China market and the strength of the U.S. dollar, and reported a lower profit in the second quarter.
The stock fell 18%, to $16.75, in after-hours trading Thursday. It closed up 1.4% at $20.34, but has slipped 5.8% this year.
The maker of herbal and nutritional supplements said it now expects full-year revenue between $490 million and $500 million, down from a range of $500 million to $515 million.
The company reported a second-quarter profit of $3.5 million, or 19 cents a share, down from $5.3 million, or 28 cents a share, a year earlier.
Stripping out certain one-time items, the company reported adjusted earnings of 21 cents a share.
Net sales ticked up to $117 million from $114.8 million a year prior.
