The South Korean industry ministry plans to expedite administrative procedures to build a new semiconductor cluster in the second half of the year, Yonhap News reported Tuesday, citing a policy briefing report submitted to the Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
The ministry said that it will implement the three megaprojects unveiled in June, covering semiconductors, physical artificial intelligence, and AI data centers.
The ministry plans to finalize the selection of the project developer and candidate sites for the southwestern semiconductor complex by year-end and fast-track administrative procedures for the Yongin semiconductor cluster to complete the project by 2029.
