Samsung SDI Seen Returning to Profit in 2026

Dow Jones
Aug 05

0627 GMT - Samsung SDI is likely to return to profit this year, with its order backlog expected to keep production lines busy through 2029, says Sunghyun Hwang at Eugene Investment & Securities. Additional contract wins later this year could leave the South Korean battery maker's production capacity short of demand from 2028, the analyst says. He is upbeat about the company maintaining its target to begin mass production of all-solid-state batteries for humanoid robots in 2H 2027. Eugene initiates coverage of the stock with a buy rating and a 500,000 won target price. Shares are recently 2.2% higher at 428,500 won.
