Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) reached an in-principle agreement with the Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) and the Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP) on the terms of a new long-haul enterprise agreement, according to a Thursday statement from the airline.

The in-principle agreement will be formalized on Friday and covers around 1,700 pilots.

The deal "will deliver significant pay increases, rostering improvements and additional career progression opportunities," a Qantas spokesperson said.

AIPA members have voted in favor of a protected action ballot order that gives them the option to strike, but there is no immediate risk of a work stoppage, the company said.
