Actinogen Medical (ASX:ACW) presented Xanamem, an oral enzyme inhibitor that lowers brain cortisol levels by blocking the 11β-HSD1 enzyme, at the Bioshares Biotech Summit in New Zealand, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
The company is advancing Xanamem for the potential treatment of Alzheimer's disease by blocking excess stress hormone cortisol production in brain cells, the filing said.
The company anticipates top-line results from the fully enrolled phase 2b/3 XanaMIA pivotal trial in November, following independent Data Monitoring Committee recommendation in January that the trial continue unchanged, per the filing.
