Ripple Strategically Invests in ZILO and Licuido: Will XRP See an Explosive Breakout?

TradingKey - Ripple's expansion into institutional-grade RWAs is set to enhance the liquidity and burn rate of its native token XRP in the long run.

According to a report by The Block on August 3, Ripple ( XRP) announced strategic equity investments in two UK fintech companies, ZILO and Licuido. This upgrades their existing commercial partnership to an equity investment, aiming to comprehensively strengthen Ripple's infrastructure footprint in compliant tokenization, digital capital markets, and institutional-grade collateral liquidity.

ZILO is a digital transfer agency and fund administration firm focusing on compliant transfer agency and asset management technology, which can provide Ripple with regulatory-compliant record-keeping and tokenized fund share management technology. Licuido is an asset issuance and trading platform regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) that can provide Ripple with issuance and secondary market trading technology for the tokenization of traditional financial assets, enabling assets like tokenized funds to serve as digital collateral for lending, financing, or collateral top-ups.

In the short term, the market typically needs time to digest the transition from corporate investments to actual on-chain transaction volume; hence, short-term price volatility remains limited and is still primarily driven by the broader cryptocurrency market and macroeconomic liquidity. As of press time, XRP has slid 1.35%, holding above $1 and trading at $1.06.

In the medium to long term, this strategic investment is a key step for Ripple to build a complete closed-loop financial system for XRP spanning 'compliant issuance, on-chain custody, collateral financing, and instant settlement.' As the commercialization of RWAs accelerates by 2026, the utility consumption and holding demand for XRP in real-world financial scenarios are expected to see substantial structural growth.
