Bathurst Resources (ASX:BRL) received consent approvals to start mining at the M2 pit at its Maramarua mine in New Zealand, with operations expected to begin in the third quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to the finalization of customer contract arrangements, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The extension will leverage existing infrastructure, extend the mine life by four years, produce around 200,000 tonnes of coal annually, and help sustain employment in the Waikato region, per the filing.
The company is also advancing discussions with existing customers to secure a new long-term supply agreement, the filing added.
