Biogen's Q2 Results Beat Boosted By Apellis Acquisition, Wedbush Says

Biogen's (BIIB) Q2 results beat was supported by the company's recent acquisition of Apellis, Wedbush Securities said in a note Wednesday.

Biogen's Q2 total revenue of $2.736 billion was higher than consensus estimates at $2.462 billion as the company's product revenue included about $208 million in Apellis-linked revenue, the note said.

Wedbush noted that after the acquisition, Biogen lowered its 2026 non-GAAP earnings per share guidance to $12.00 to $13.00 from the previous guidance of $14.25 to $15.25, partly reflecting a negative impact from Apellis charges, the note said.

Wedbush said, however, the Q2 beat was a positive factor for the stock, while the guidance revision after the Apellis deal "seems as anticipated."

"With management continuing to indicate accretion in 2027, we think this should be reassuring," the note said, with unlocking additional revenue growth drivers most important.

Wedbush kept its neutral rating on Biogen and has a $201 price target on the company.
