Nucor (NUE) shares were up 5.7% in Tuesday trading after the company reported better-than-expected Q2 results late Monday.
The company posted quarterly adjusted earnings of $4.84 per diluted share, up from $2.68 a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected $4.46.
Revenue for the 13 weeks ended July 4 was $10.40 billion, up from $8.46 billion a year earlier.
Analysts expected $10.15 billion.
For Q3, the company said it expects higher consolidated earnings than Q2.
