Intel (INTC) has provided access to portions of its Atom processor technology to stealth startup RosaicLabs in a rare move that gives the company access to Intel's x86 intellectual property, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a source and documents it reviewed.
According to the report, Intel plans to provide RosaicLabs with register-transfer level code for its Atom processor technology, enabling the startup to develop custom chip designs. Rosaic is led by Amarjit Gill, a longtime co-investor of Intel Chief Executive Lip-Bu Tan.
Reuters also reported that amended Delaware filings indicate Rosaic is authorized to pursue a $10 million seed funding round.
Intel did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
