1915 ET [Dow Jones]--Visa says the World Cup boosted travel-related cross-border volume in June as it brought an influx of soccer fans to the U.S. In some host cities, card-present transactions climbed as much as 20% on match days, CFO Chris Suh says during a call with analysts, noting particularly strong spending among fans from Norway, Uruguay and Ecuador. And the boost wasn't limited to just the tournament's host cities; other destinations also benefited, including the D.C. metro area and Las Vegas, where Visa saw spending pick up before the knockout matches, he says.
