Mizuho Financial Group Doubles Share Buyback Program to 200 Billion Yen

Mizuho Financial Group (TYO:8411) has expanded its share repurchase program, raising the maximum repurchase amount from 100 billion yen to 200 billion yen.
The group increased the maximum number of shares to be acquired from 25 million to 35 million or about 1.4% of outstanding shares, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Thursday.
The repurchase period has been extended by one month to Sept. 30, while the scheduled cancellation date for the repurchased shares has been moved from Sept. 24 to Oct. 23.
All repurchased shares will be cancelled, with the final cancellation number to be announced after the buyback completion.
