The new fund is named the Singapore Income and Growth Equity Fund (SING Fund) and will be co-managed by two of its portfolio managers Bryan Yeong and Daniel Lau. Yeong and Lau collectively bring over 40 years of investment experience, says Eastspring in its press release on the same day. \n\"Although investors don't typically view Singapore equities as a growth opportunity, and many asset allocators approach the sector primarily as a dividend play, the market has delivered compelling gains in recent years,\" says Eastspring Investments CIO Vis Nayar, who notes that the blue-chip heavy Straits Times Index has went up by 27% over the past year and by 56% over the past three years.\n\"We therefore believe investors do not have to choose between income and growth: by combining Singapore's strong income foundations with active research to uncover high-quality small- and mid-cap companies, we aim to capture both,\" he adds.\nEastspring Investments' new fund will focus on both income and growth opportunities.
