BOE Decision Unlikely to Move Sterling Much

0901 GMT - The Bank of England's policy decision on Thursday is unlikely to have much impact on sterling, Union Bancaire Privée's Peter Kinsella says in a note. The BOE will probably vote 7-2 to keep rates unchanged at 3.75% again, he says. The latest forecasts should continue to show a combination of soft growth and slightly lower inflation for the remainder of the year. The BOE could also slow the pace of quantitative tightening given the ongoing upward pressure in yields, although this wouldn't move sterling much. "Overall, there is little to get excited about for sterling, and we continue to see tight ranges holding for both euro versus sterling and sterling versus dollar in the near term."
