Fuel-cell maker also raises its 2026 guidance for the second straight time

Bloom Energy calls its servers the "standard" to power AI.

Shares of Bloom Energy rose more than 10% in extended trading Tuesday after the fuel-cell maker reported quarterly sales that topped $1 billion, well above Wall Street's estimates, and positioned itself as a winner in the race to power AI.

Bloom Energy $(BE)$ "is now a standard for AI onsite power," CEO and founder KR Sridhar said in a statement accompanying results.

Major hyperscalers and more than a dozen of neocloud companies and AI labs that once might have looked at natural-gas powered and other combustion technologies now choose Bloom as a "superior power solution," he added.

Bloom Energy reported second-quarter adjusted profit of 78 cents a share on sales of $1.07 billion, two-and-a-half times more than sales of $401.2 million in the year-ago quarter.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected adjusted earnings of 41 cents a share on sales of $826 million.

Bloom Energy has indeed ridden on the coattails of AI excitement and investors' quests for companies positioned to benefit from powering data centers. Its stock nearly has quadrupled in the past 12 months, and has gained more than 90% so far this year.

Bloom Energy also raised its outlook for the full year for a second straight time, calling for revenue between $3.9 billion and $4.2 billion, and adjusted EPS between $2.55 and $2.85.

The company in April upped its guidance for revenue between $3.4 billion and $3.8 billion, and adjusted EPS between $1.85 and $2.25.

Analysts polled by FactSet model adjusted EPS of $2.15 on sales of $3.73 billion for the year.
