Healthcare stocks were mixed premarket Friday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) declining by 0.4% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) 0.3% higher.
Novo Nordisk (NVO) shares were down nearly 8% after the company said its ziltivekimab drug candidate did not reduce major adverse cardiovascular events in people with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and inflammation compared with placebo in a phase 3 trial.
