Macquarie's CEO Appointment Should be Well Received

0026 GMT - Macquarie's appointment of its banking boss as successor to CEO Shemara Wikramanayake should be well received by the market, Citi analyst Thomas Strong says. He tells clients that Wikramanayake's eight-year tenure means that her retirement should have surprised no one, adding that successor Greg Ward is well known and regarded by investors. Ward's banking unit is considered to be a strong organic success story and the transition should be smooth, Strong writes in a note. He expects limited changes to consensus forecasts from Macquarie's latest trading update. Citi has a neutral rating on the stock and a target price of 240.00 Australian dollars. Shares are 0.3% higher at A$255.66. (stuart.condie@wsj.com)
