CAE and Italian defense firm Leonardo are deepening their partnership to upgrade and expand the M-346 fighter-pilot training system
The collaboration aims to tap into demand from air forces for next-generation, highly digital and increasingly autonomous air combat environments and includes a joint technology roadmap to advance the M-346 Integrated Training System, including upcoming Block 20 capabilities, the companies said Wednesday.
Leonardo's M-346 is an advanced jet trainer used to prepare pilots for modern fighter aircraft.
The agreement builds on their work at the International Flight Training School in Sardinia, where CAE and Leonardo train pilots using a mix of live flying and advanced simulations.
The companies said the expanded partnership will help air forces accelerate pilot readiness and improve interoperability as militaries adopt more complex aircraft and AI‑enabled mission systems.
