ECB Seen Likely to Raise Rates in September

1246 GMT - The European Central Bank is likely to raise interest rates in September after leaving rates steady Thursday, Morgan Stanley analysts say in a note. The ECB reiterated that it remains well placed to address the energy price shock. This suggests the ECB will consider further rate rises if energy prices remain elevated and supports a gradual pace of tightening, the analysts say. "This is fully consistent with our expectation of another hike in September." The ECB raised rates by 25 basis points in June. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
