Shares of World Kinect rose after the energy-management company raised its guidance and swung to a second-quarter profit.
The stock was up 9%, to $39.55, midday Friday and has gained 69% this year.
World Kinect said Thursday it now expects full-year adjusted earnings of between $3.20 and $3.40 a share, compared with a previous range of $2.65 to $2.85. Analysts polled by FactSet had been expecting $2.79 a share prior to the earnings release.
The company reported a profit of $48.4 million, or 94 cents a share, compared with a loss of $339.4 million, or $6.06 a share, a year earlier. The year-ago loss included $398.6 million in goodwill and other asset impairments.
Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted earnings were $1.29 a share. Analysts had been expecting 75 cents a share.
Revenue rose to $13.59 billion from $9.04 billion a year prior.
