Singapore Shares Edge Higher at Open on Big Tech Earnings Hopes

Singapore shares opened slightly higher on Monday, defying broader regional pressures fueled by the escalating geopolitical crisis in the Middle East and widening U.S. military actions in Iran.

The Straits Times Index opened higher by 0.16%, or by 9.1 points, at 5,518.550.

Early buying interest helped the Singapore bourse recover from the losses of last week's trade. Investors will now be keenly eyeing the upcoming earnings led by the U.S. technology stocks that have seen a rally.

The results are expected to help investors have stronger views on the demand for artificial intelligence.
