Credit: 7NEWS“A major win for the industry has been the administration of the CFMEU, where we’ve seen literally overnight a lot of that behaviour being diminished.“What we need to make sure now is that we get full control over the industry, but we need to ensure that we do not have this happening again to anyone.” 7NEWS asked the Prime Minister about whether he would reinstate a regulator during a press conference in Sydney on Saturday Morning. “We’ve intervened in the CFMEU and placed it into administration,” Albanese said. “We’ve taken the strongest action that any government has ever taken. And I note when the previous government was in office, what we saw was no action. “These measures, these people still in place was what occurred. We’ve taken action.” Tradie shortage costing Australians The Master Builders is also calling for new solutions to solve the housing crisis and tradie shortage. The lobby group estimates building costs are elevated by 15 per cent due to the lack of workers.Wawn said she is talking to Labor about bringing in tradies from Pacific nations, a system currently in place for fruit pickers and farm workers. The CEO also wants tradies pushed up the queue when it comes to the skilled migration list. Construction workers are currently placed in tier three of the program.
