Clarivate (CLVT) said Thursday the US Patent and Trademark Office started an artificial intelligence image search option within its public tracking registry.

The feature allows users to submit visual designs to check them against the federal database for matching registrations, the company said.

The agency awarded a contract to the company to integrate the pattern recognition tools for faster system exploration, Clarivate said.

Shares of the company were down 2.4% in Thursday premarket activity.
