Oil prices are stabilizing this morning after President Trump said Iran called him yesterday seeking a deal, raising hopes of a potential pause to this week's attacks.
-- Brent crude futures fell to about $77 a barrel after surging past $80 at one point yesterday.
-- U.S. oil futures retreated less than 1% to trade around $73.
Even with today's modest losses, oil prices are still significantly higher than they were before this week's clashes. Brent crude futures had been trading below their prewar prices, easing political pressure on Trump and offering Americans a price reprieve at the pump.
