Viva Energy Group (ASX:VEA) launched a sustainable aviation fuel storage and blending facility at the Pinkenba Terminal in Brisbane, Queensland, for delivery to Brisbane Airport's existing jet fuel supply system, according to a Monday statement from the company.

The project involved the refurbishment of a 3.3-million-liter sustainable aviation fuel storage tank, as well as a certification and accounting system to track and account for the environmental benefits of the fuel, the company said.

The blended lower-emissions aviation fuel will be delivered to aircrafts through the airport's existing Joint User Hydrant Installation fuel supply system.

The company will use the Fuel Central digital mass-balance accounting platform by NoviqTech (ASX:NVQ) to track sustainable aviation fuel use and sustainability credentials from the Viva Energy terminal to the aircraft.

Viva Energy's shares shed about 1% in recent Monday trade.
