Northern Minerals (ASX:NTU) said that based on its updated share register, a majority of the shares subject to the Treasurer's disposal orders dated May 17 remain registered in the names of the persons subject to those orders, following the divestment due date of July 2, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

The company said the disposal orders were made by the Treasurer, exercising powers against six foreign investors in Northern Minerals shares representing about 17.58% of the total shares on issue.

According to the May 17 orders, a total of six China-linked entities were ordered to sell their interest in the company.

Northern Minerals said it will provide relevant share registry information to the Foreign Investment Division of the Department of Treasury to assist the Treasurer and the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) in determining compliance with the disposal orders, it added.

The company's shares fell 10% in recent Tuesday trade.
