Ferrari (RACE) and BMW are launching new vehicles that use aluminum wiring, signaling their shift away from copper, Reuters reported Tuesday.
The report said companies are switching to aluminum due to its lower price and comparable performance, while copper prices have increased driven by shortages and increased demand.
Ferrari and BMW said the move to use aluminum was also partly driven by the metal's lighter weight, the report added.
Ferrari and BMW did not respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
