Xylem (XYL) and the city of Houston have partnered to deploy Xylem's flood-intelligence platform, which uses data from physical sensors installed across the city to alert officials about waterlogged roads, underpasses and streets during extreme weather events, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing Texas officials and Xylem.

The water-tracking initiative comes as the city continues to deal with the long-term aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and prepares for extreme weather while hosting World Cup events, according to the report.

Xylem did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
